Dr. Deborah "Debi" Lux is a retired dentist with 20+ years of being a small business owner in Florida.  Debi lives in Punta Gorda Isles with her husband, Sean, who is a full-time attorney and partner in a law firm. She is a United States Navy veteran, and her husband served in the United States Air Force.
 

As the first one in her family to have earned a college degree, and with limited financial support from her family, Debi relied on student loans and worked her way through school. She is not afraid of challenges and hard work and is dedicated to everything she does. It was only after long hours and hard work during her first dental practice that she finally paid off all her student loans. With care and understanding of others, one of her accomplishments was to start an endowment fund for first year hygiene students. The fund is to help the students pay for their needed instruments. Debi did not want students to struggle with funds, like she did, to achieve their career goal. 

Dr. Lux practiced Dentistry two years prior to joining the Navy.  She was commissioned as a dental officer and proudly served her country as a Lieutenant in the Navy. After being honorably discharged, she moved to Punta Gorda and practiced in a small office. A new opportunity took her elsewhere for several years, but she always planned to return to beautiful Punta Gorda.

Giving back and paying forward is a dedication Debi believes in. She volunteered her dental expertise by helping those in need in Jamaica. On the home front, she gave through her practice by helping local U.S. Marines be “ready for deployment”.  While living in Naples, Debi and her husband founded Collier County Honor Flight, also known as Collier Lee Honor Flight– a 100% all Volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Its sole mission is to transport America’s Veterans, free of charge, to Washington D.C. to visit and reflect at the memorials dedicated to honor their sacrifices.

Since 2004 Debi and her husband Sean have owned the perfect lot in Punta Gorda Isles that they recently built a beautiful home on. They are a quiet couple. You will see them in the yard enjoying mowing, trimming and even pulling weeds.  They are simply a “good neighbor” who wants to do good for our community.

Dr. Lux decided to file to be considered for the Punta Gorda City

Council.  She knows there is much to learn, and she has already

started by studying the 372 pages of Chapter 26 Zoning and
Land Development Regulations. She is eager to be a part of

the management and growth involving Punta Gorda. Her ears

are open to understand and learn from everyone, including
developers, residents and our many businesses.
